Property
- Property listings in Perth keep ticking upward, and word on the street is that buyers are finally getting a bit more joy sealing the deal.
- Still no change in the median house or unit price this week, but the suburbs catching the eye? Nollamara and Baldivis. Why? Say it with me: Affordability. Affordability. Affordability.
Markets
- It’s been another spicy week on the global stage. Uncle Donald’s policies – well-meaning or just winging it (who knows?) – have once again caused a bit of chaos.
- The latest? A proposal to slap multimillion-dollar levies on Chinese ships docking in the US. The result? Americans will now be copping even more of the tab to get anything delivered.
- Fun fact: China makes more than half the world’s cargo ships by tonnage. So yeah… this could get real interesting. But enough geopolitical antics – what’s happening back home?
- The ASX staged a bit of a comeback this week, dusting itself off and recovering some recent losses – but it’s still only up a humble 1.64% over the past year (ex-dvidends).
- And now to the main event – commodities. Iron Ore (your favourite and mine) held steady.
- Copper is partying thanks to ongoing EV production, and Gold is glistening – central banks clearly can’t get enough of the shiny stuff.
- Did you hear your mate talk about his Bitcoin wins this weekend? You didn’t, did you? Down 8.53% for the month, and flat for the week.
Rates
- Competition is fierce for the right proposals.
- Business Finance deals are back – Valuations are being covered, and discounted establishment fees are here.
Baseline Success Story of the Week
- It’s been a bonanza of yellow goods being funded in the last few weeks, largely expansion capex. Trucks, Trailers, Tippers, Boom Lifts.
- Perhaps I should swap the business shirt for high viz?
Bad/Dad Jokes of the Week
- I tried origami—talk about folding under pressure.
- I was addicted to brake fluid—but I can stop anytime.
- I started a gardening club, but I couldn’t find the thyme.
