Property
- Residential Property listings in Perth remain at low-levels, but are showing ongoing increases from the Christmas period.
- The rate of property price climbs appear to be moderating over what was seen in the 2024 calendar year.
- Rental yields have dropped considerably, with the pace of property price rises outstripping the pace of rental increases.
- Weekly rents on average for a house in Perth are $680 p.w – giving an average rental yield of 4.65%.
Markets
- The ASX has continued its relatively miserable run of late with another down week, but this week has started with a bit more promise.
- The banks have been the major culprits of late (although arguably well overdue), whilst the Miners seem to be trucking on. No real surprises given those commodity prices.
Rate update
- No major rate movements for the week, with the BBSW curve relatively flat.
- A number of financiers are promoting fixed rate specials, however this is aligned with expected rate cuts during 2025.
- Business Finance deals are back – Valuations are being covered, and discounted establishment fees are here.
Baseline Success Story of the Week
- The last few weeks have involved quite a lot of logistical work coordinating the purchase of a specialty truck from Europe for a client.
- It’s an absolute beast of a machine, with incredible capability, and quite something to see in the flesh. It’ll be coming to a mine site near you soon.
- We’ve got a great solution in place at sensational rates.
Dad/Bad Jokes of the Week
- I accidentally handed my wife a glue stick instead of a chapstick—she still isn’t talking to me.
- Did you hear about the circus fire? It was in tents.
- I don’t trust stairs—they’re always up to something.
